Coordinator and Elders facilitator “Remembering the teachings of the Tseshaht First Nations” Project

Tseshaht is looking for an individual to coordinate and facilitate the development of a manual detailing traditional teachings and protocols: currently unavailable only through elders as oral history. This may include:

1
Core philosophies, value systems
2 Work ethic
3 Social Structures and family structures
4 Religion
5 Formal etiquette and Ceremonies
a - hosting guests
b - traveling to other Tribes
6 Others as brought up in elders workshops


Methods of gathering data will through a series of a minimum of 10 Tseshaht elders’ workshops. Each gathering begins in the Tseshaht tradition of sharing a meal and traditional prayer.

Final product will be developed by the creations of a manual printed in the Tseshaht Language and English that will be professionally printed for sharing with the community along with the meetings being video taped and stored on the Tseshaht library.

Must have facilitation skills, coordinating skills and Tseshaht writing of language skills and asset and have own transportation.

Notice of Bi-Election

The following Tseshaht Band Members were duly nominated at a meeting held November 15, 2006:

3. Willard Gallic, Sr.
4. Nicholas Watts

TAKE NOTICE THAT A BY-ELECTION FOR THE PURPOSE OF ELECTING TWO (2) COUNCILORS FOR THE REMAINING TERM ENDING MAY 2008 WILL BE AS FOLLOWS.

1.
An Advanced Poll will be held on Wednesday November 29, 2006 between the hours of 10:00am and 2:00pm, at the Somass Hall.
2.
Election Day will be Wednesday, December 6, 2006 between the hours of 9:00am and 8:00pm, also at the Somass Hall.
3.
Mailed in Votes will be accepted, but must be received on or before December 5, 2006 and the Envelope MUST be sealed and marked on the outside "BALLOT".
4.
Faxed Ballots will be accepted, but must be received before 4:30pm December 5, 2006.

In order to receive a copy of a ballot for the purpose of mailing your vote, please attend at the band office. To request a ballot via fax, please telephone the Band Office at (250) 724-1225 to request that a ballot be faxed to you. Upon completing your ballot, please attach a copy of your status card verifying your membership and fax to (250) 724-4385.
