Tyee ḥaw̓ił and ḥaw̓iiḥ (Hereditary Chiefs)

Throughout our history, the Tseshaht Nation was led by the Tyee ḥaw̓ił and ḥaw̓iiḥ (Hereditary Chiefs), who occupied the top rank of the social system.

Elected Chief & Council

In 2004 the Tseshaht adopted a Tseshaht First Nation Custom Election Code with a 4 year term of office comprised of a maximum of 9 councilors with the Councilors appointing from amongst themselves, a Chief Councilor. Eligible voters are those Tseshaht 16 and older.
